While in Pristina, Kosovo, Prime Minister Edi Rama met with Vice President of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK) Ardian Gjini and other representatives of this political force. In addition to discussing cooperation and common challenges of the two countries, the two dignitaries focused on the progress of the process that is taking place in France against AAK’s President Ramush Haradinaj. Prime Minister Rama said that it is imperative that the process that is taking place against Haradinaj ends as required by law and as Kosovo deserves it. “The topic of conversation is what I think remains on the agenda for all of us, the need to have this totally redundant process against Ramush Haradinaj end as required by law and as Kosovo deserves it. Not only that, but we have also discussed the situation as a whole, as well as common challenges”, the Prime Minister said.
The Prime Minister stressed, inter alia, that a just conclusion of the process against the AKK’s President Ramush Haradinaj will mark also the beginning of a joint work between the two governments and institutions of Albania and Kosovo, to finally abolish the lists of people with arrest warrants belonging to the past. “What I want to emphasize and which we have shared with our friends, is that for us once the process against Ramush is over, and I heartily wish and believe that it will have the conclusion we all want, is not the end but is the beginning of a joint work of our government and the government of Kosovo, of the Albanian institutions and of the institutions of Kosovo, to finally abolish all these lists of people with warrants that belong to the past. Lists that appears occasionally in such forms that remind us that the past is always a threat to us, but also oblige us to continue together, by means of peace and democracy, to make past irreversible and to bring closer as much as possible the future that our children deserve”, Prime Minister said.
On his part, the AAK’s Vice president Ardian Gjini thanked Prime Minister Rama for his commitment to this issue, and considered the visit as a tribute to the figure of Haradinaj and to the AAK. He thanked the Albanian government for the support it has offered to Kosovo and to its institutions at every stage of development. “Prime Minister Rama has honoured Ramush, and by honouring Ramush he has honoured all patriots wherever they are, he has honoured all citizens of Kosovo, he has honoured all Albanians, and he has definitely honoured our Alliance and all of us. All of us have been aware of the role played by Prime Minister Rama and Albania, not only at this stage, but in all stages of development of Kosovo. Especially we want to thank him publicly for the commitment to the situation created following the arrest of President Haradinaj in France”, Gjini said.
