Albanian Government Council of Ministers

The Municipality of Mirdite has become a work site where a number of projects are being implemented, along with many infrastructure interventions that will offer residents increased facilities and comfort in their daily lives.

The urban requalification of the square in Rrëshen following a 187 million ALL investment, was much needed by citizens who in an area of 8200 m2 will enjoy a more vibrant life, colours, redeveloped environments, greenery and decorative lighting. The project also envisages the reconstruction of the underground infrastructure.

Accompanied by Mayor Ndrec Dedaj Prime Minister Edi Rama inspected today works being carried out for the square, the high school, the promenade area and some important streets of the city.

Another important investment has been made in the high school of Rrëshen. After a thorough reconstruction of the existing and not very functional premises of this school, its students will attend lessons in totally revitalized conditions. In addition, thanks to an approximately 119 million ALL investment, they will be offered a new heating system, modern laboratories and cabinets, rearranged sports grounds with optimal conditions, as well as other entertainment facilities.

Both foreign and domestic tourists and visitors will get to know a totally different city of Rreshen, starting from its entry road. The road segment at the intersection highway-Rreshen city entrance (Lot 1) is subject to an urban redesigning project, a 149 million ALL investment, aiming to have the ruined infrastructure of this road rearranged within a short time, and give it the appearance of a European infrastructure.

Prime Minister Edi Rama, accompanied by Mayor Ndrec Dedaj, inspected today the progress of works on this road.

The road will be extended on both sides of the sidewalk, and a problematic curve will be rearranged, since it has been causing for years major obstacles to communication, especially in times of rainfall. Its rearrangement will avoid once and for all flooding of the road at that curve, because a bridge will be built to facilitate the passage of water during winter. It will not only give a new urban dimension to the entrance to the city of Rreshen, but it will also increase safety for school children who live in the neighbourhood Ura e Fanit. Also, interventions will be made to eliminate curves and expand the road segment Ura e Fanit – highway.

While explaining the project, the Mayor said that “Two sidewalks will be added to this 1.5 kilometre road on both sides. The part from the cemetery to the city entrance of the city will be provided with canalizations. This road has turned into a nightmare for citizens. It will have lighting on both of its sides, and citizens will be able to move freely.”

In addition to lighting, greenery on both sides of the road will be another not just decorative element.
