Kristi Llambiri, just 24-years old, has employed 12 people in his bakery he opened three years ago in Tirana and the current business turnover is estimated at around 10 million lek. At the beginning of this year, with the government’s new fiscal package coming into force to cut the profit tax to 5 percent from a previous 15 percent rate, Llambiri has decided to expand his business and open another store for his bread and pastry products that bear his family name as trademark.

Prime Minister Edi Rama today visited the business premises that is quite famous in the whole neighbourhood and where the government head was told that Kristi’s new store was to open in a former sports betting venue which was closed in the beginning of the new year.

“We currently make over 37 different types of bread daily. I have been trying to gain experience during working trips to Germany and Switzerland. With the reduced profit tax to five percent only, I plan to expand my business by opening a new store at a previous sports betting shop at the Selvia neighbourhood,” Kristi said.

“Bravo! A quicksand for the money now turned into a bakery. This is perfect! A fantastic transformation! The profit tax cut will have a significant impact as this is the most interesting band of business, because it somehow a type of business between the small and big business category with the largest number of innovations and the smallest number of employees,” the Premier said.

The Minister of Finance and Economy Arben Ahmetaj said that the increase of the annual turnover threshold provides a great breathing for the whole small business, which can easily be classified into a medium size business this year.

“This business is classified in the business type benefiting from the tax cut to 5 percent from the previous rate of 15 percent. This business belongs to the group of 91 percent of businesses that benefit a reduced tax rate ranging from zero to five percent only and practically form the core of the small economy,” Ahmetaj said.

“The ambition is that you turn your business into a company chain and trademark,” PM Rama added, urging the entrepreneur to expand his business.
