Albanian Government Council of Ministers

Residents in the village of Rreth Tapi in the Administrative Unit of Perondi, Municipality of Kuçova, will be saved from frequent floods triggered whenever the Osum River overflows its banks due to heavy rainfall. Work to construct an embankment on two sides of the river to protect the residential areas and the agricultural lands in the village is already underway with a state budget funding.

Prime Minister Edi Rama, together with the Minister of Tourism and Environment Blendi Klosi and lawmaker representing Berat district, Ermonela Felaj, inspected the ongoing works that will finally put an end to flood problems and damages to agricultural lands of local residents. “The embankment will provide the village’s protection against future flooding from Osum River. This village has been frequently flooded over the years. After building such a river embankment in Ura Vajgurore thus saving a large number of homes that were flooded each year, it is now time to save the agricultural lands and greenhouses constructed by local residents in this village. It is a promise kept within a short period of time so this is good news for this village,” MP Felaj said.

The work to construct the embankment is expected to complete in next two months. Rreth Tapi is the largest village in Administrative Unit of Perondi and this is considered one of the most important investments in this area.
