The industrial laundry company “Balkan Laundry” is a new Italian-Albanian enterprise located along Tirana-Durres highway, operating since 2013.

Balkan Laundry is renowned for its professional linen hire and industrial laundry service for hotel, catering, guesthouse, hospitality and restaurant industries in Albania (sheets, towels, table linen, napkins, bedroom and bathroom linen etc.,) with tenants having not to pay for the rental price, but for the washing service only.

Prime Minister Edi Rama visited Balkan Laundry, a female-dominated business, with one of them as the company’s manager. “It is an industrial laundry and an Italian investment. The company is specialized in providing services to hotels and restaurant industry, as well as to hospitals. The number of employees ranges from 50 to over 70 during the summer season. Our employees are mainly women. We have very good relations with the employment offices that help us to hire the largest number of our employees, mainly from the city of Durres and the adjacent areas,” she said.

The company’s activity is closely related to the tourism industry and its entrepreneurs, one of them an Italian investor, say their activity has significantly expanded with the growth of international tourist arrivals and the opening of the new hospitality and accommodation facilities, including hotels, guesthouses and restaurants.

“Our activity is related to tourism. We have noticed that with the growth of tourism, our work has grown a lot this year with an increasing demand from hotels and restaurants and new accommodation structures. We have signed cooperation contracts with 4 new hotels. The demand for linen products has grown by around 50% this year. If we sign a contract with a hotel, we mainly supply bedroom and bathroom linen products and under the contract we carry out laundry service too. Our business is now growing,” the company’s administrator said.

She noted that it was the modern technology and quality service that make this business a success story in the market. The laundry has a daily processing capacity of 8000 kg thanks to a new professional washing, ironing and folding line.

“Our laundry capacity is 8 000 kg a day. We have a double ironing line in order to ensure a continued working process,” she explained.
