Albert Cara, who survived the Nov 26 tragedy that killed other members of his family, just two days ago returned from Italy where he was sent for more specialized medical treatment. Mr. Cara has moved into his new home, where he was visited by Prime Minister Edi Rama today.
Accompanied by the Minister of Health Ogerta Manastirliu, PM Rama said that November 26 was a terrible and tragic day. “We will do our best. We have already done few things and we are ready for everything. The government has decided to grant you a lifelong pension. I wish you much strength and long life together with other family members,” PM Rama wished to Albert, who told his painful story and expressed gratitude for the care he received while in Italy.
Albert said he had tried to be tough and pull himself together in the aftermath of the unspeakable pain and suffering at the time of such a profound loss for him.
“I feel I am reborn. The hospital in the city of Bari gave me a second life. I call it a rebirth. I will live the rest of my life,” Albert said.
The Premier pledged that none of the quake-affected families would be left alone. “We have done our best and we will do utmost efforts for all homeless families and individuals. We will build new homes for each and every one of them. It of course takes a bit patience and patience is not easily found, but we will do whatever we can for everyone,” PM Rama said.
