Velipoja and its beach area will soon be supplied with drinking water 24 hours a day, according to all required standards. New investments in the water supply system of Velipoje would eventually change the current situation of water supply for the area.

Prime Minister Rama visited today the pumping station, which from a mechanism with very old technology is being thoroughly transformed in an intelligent supply system with modern European standards.

Currently, the Municipality of Velipoja and the beach are supplied with water by means of a mechanical system, where only 3 out of the 5 wells are used. The outdated driving pumps, located in a one-storied building are often dangerous since they are part of a backward underground infrastructure. In addition, they have a high cost for electricity consumption.

Director of the aqueduct Flaurs Shoshi accompanying Prime Minister Rama informed that the new station will have an intelligent pump system with submersible pump, with maximum capacity, and with a guarantee of at least 41 years for each pump. Old driving pumps will be replaced by new pumps of European models, with electronic panels, that in addition to having a higher power will halve the costs for the electricity that they consume.

The new network of pumps, with high guarantees, thanks to the technology applied, will eventually solve the problem of flooding, even if the water level increases.

“This building was made in 1976, while this other one has just one story. The underground system of pumps has always caused flooding. Although the pumps bought in the last 10 years are new, they are outdated.  They are 1986 Chinese pumps with a very large cost of electricity, and with old and dangerous panels.

The new vertical pumps have 41-year warranty. At the moment the new intelligent pumps with electronic panels will be installed, the deafening sounds will cease. In addition, intelligent pumps will work according to the flow of the well. Pumps will be automatically disconnected in case of works at the Hec. They are self-regulated based on the weather and rainfall. There is an underlying intelligent system for their functioning”, he explained.
