Albanian Government Council of Ministers

The new mosque of Dragostunjës, which opened the doors a few days ago, is the newest not only religious but also educational and instructive institution for believers and local residents of Librazhd.

Prime Minister Rama, who was headed to Librazhd, diverted his route to visit the mosque, a work built with the contributions of believers and non-believers. He was welcomed by representatives of the local Muslim community, and the mufti of Tirana Ylli Gurra.

The Prime Minister said that the construction of the new mosque is the fulfillment of the testament left by the ancestors of Mufti Gurra. Together with him, Prime Minister Rama planted a laurel tree, a symbolic sign of this visit.

The mufti thanked the Prime Minister for showing respect and visiting the mosque one day before the start of Ramadan. “I want to thank Prime Minister Edi Rama for showing respect and being with us today, in a sacred moment. Tomorrow we start the prosperous month of Ramadan, the month of peace, unity and fraternity. We have the Prime Minister with us on the eve of this month, and every one of us wishes him success and prosperity. The tree we planted together will be a symbol of your appreciation, not only for Dragostunjë, but for the Albanians, for the work you are doing to change Albania’s face”, he said.

The prime minister said that the project for the mosque is a symbol of goodwill and an extraordinary omen on the eve of the great month of Ramadan.

On this occasion, the Prime Minister wished Albanians prosperity in this holy month!

“This mosque is a symbol of goodwill, a work done with contributions of believers and non-believers, and with great faith that such an act is beneficial to everybody, in addition to being a good omen for everyone.

On the other hand, I stopped by here today as a sign of deep respect for a friend and renowned cleric Ylli Gurra, with whom I shared a memorable moment in Paris on January 11, where the march hand in hand of Albanian religious communities became the European pride and hope on that day.

I want to wholeheartedly congratulate Ylli and all those who conceived this project because as far as I have seen, and as far as I know, this part of the history of religious architecture is not just a mosque rebuilt on the foundations of a mosque that once was a hotbed of education also for people of the area, but it is also a mosque painted with great taste, selected to be a space where old calligraphy and the new spirit of this light of faith coexist in harmony.

I am convinced that those who use this space will also feel extremely well due to the exceptional quality of work done, and the very refined taste of those who have created this beautiful décor that is necessary in such a space.

In conclusion, I wish all of you a great month of Ramadan, and I take the opportunity, from this small but radiant enough square of the mosque, to convey this wish to every Albanian wherever they are, and above all to those who through this month and its rites will ask for more light and more hope, but who will definitely acquire additional force on the path of their life.”
