Albanian Government Council of Ministers

Prime Minister Edi Rama visited the police officer Fadil Allaraj who underwent complex emergency surgery at the University Hospital Centre in Tirana after sustaining serious eye injuries as violent rioters threw stones, flares, firecrackers at police during a protest two days ago.

The government head also met the family members of the police officer, who was injured in the line of duty and who will be transferred to Turkey to receive a more specialized medical treatment. “We will do utmost efforts. Today, I and the Health Minister contacted with our friends in Turkey to transport him for a more specialized treatment granted to people in uniforms. The team features super specialized doctors and are ready to provide care and medical treatment to him, but the main issue doctors had to tackle first here was to prevent danger,” the Premier said, while Fadil’s father expressed his and his family gratitude for the care provided to his son by the medical team.

According to doctors who are treating Fadil, the police officer is in a stable condition now. “Taking notice of his earlier condition, we are really pleased today. The surgery went better than we initially thought,” the surgeon who performed the intervention said, whereas the government head said: “Whoever has been treated by you, and they are many, sometimes they don’t know what they say. I am well aware that you are completely different from what certain people say.”
