Teachers and academic staff across Albania are receiving the COVID-19 vaccine as the pace of the vaccine rollout keeps accelerating and expanding. The process is progressing normally and no health issues or side effects have been reported among the teachers who have already received the vaccine.
The coronavirus vaccination of teachers and education workers goes on for two days now in the north-western region of Shkoder. Prime Minister Edi Rama and the Minister of Health and Social Protection Ogerta Manastirliu travelled to Shkoder to see the vaccine roll-out for teachers up close. Health Minister said that a total of 4300 teachers all over the country have received the vaccine to date, while the vaccination process is full steam ahead. “More than 33.000 doses have been administered to date, with 23.000 jabs administered to the health personnel, more than 5.000 doses administered to older adults and 4300 doses to teachers. Here too, the process is going just fine. The pace of vaccinations is speeding up,” Health Minister Manastirliu said.
Asking about the teachers’ condition after receiving the first vaccine dose, the Prime Minister noted that utmost care and attention is needed in this phase of the immunisation process. “High attention and utmost care is needed after receiving the first dose until the antibodies are created. Nobody should worry because everything will go just fine. As we are all seeing, the countries that suspended the vaccine use most recently are most likely to resume the immunisation process again, as it is all about a certain series of vaccines. It was another series of vaccines and no possible connections between the vaccine and the reported cases have been established.”
Minister Manastirliu noted that teachers are provided full information over the vaccine in advance. “The information is provided to the teachers not only by the health personnel here, but also the form they are provided with, explaining all attributes of the vaccine and its possible effects just like any other medication. It is for sure that the vaccine is completely safe to use,” Health Minister said.
