From a design in line with the European and contemporary education infrastructure standards, the newly-built Halit Çoka school in Kamez is the newest reality for children in that area. With its 28 classrooms and laboratories, the new education facility is designed to provide contemporary standards for its 1200 schoolchildren in Bathore area, Kamez municipality.
“It is one of the 160 schools being rebuilt by the government of Albania and the international donors under the post-earthquake Reconstruction Programme. It is an additional element. We haven’t limited our efforts on construction of 160 educational facilities only, but, based on our assessments, we are increasing the number of new schools not only Kamez, but also in Durres, Kavaje and Rrogozhine. The new school is really a modern one. In the meantime, we have launched the furnishing process in schools in Tirana, and other municipalities,” the Minister of State for Reconstruction Ahmetaj said while accompanying Prime Minister Edi Rama during a visit to the new school building.
“Halit Çoka” school is a long-cherished investment for the local community and a total of 20 schools, kindergartens and nurseries are scheduled to be built in Kamez municipality.
“It is a much bigger and more qualitative school building and, moreover, it meets all the required contemporary standards,” Kamez Mayor Rakip Suli said about the new building, adding that construction of five schools and kindergartens has completed. Work is underway to construct seven other facilities.”
Mayor Suli also said that 21 residential buildings with 280 apartments will be built in Valias area, where the site preparation and foundations work has already completed.
“In many aspects, Kamez is being rebuilt from scratch,” Minister Ahmetaj said, adding that “construction of apartment buildings is underway and their construction is scheduled to complete in next eight months. All the traces and effects of the November 2019 earthquake will be all removed by spring 2022 and everything we have taken over to rebuild will complete by then. A total of 33.000 affected families will benefit under the projects on construction of urban infrastructure, single-family homes, schoolsm whereas 500.000 citizens will benefit government’s compensation grants.”
Highlighting the project and the quality work on construction of the new school, PM Rama said that “what has been already done in Kamez and what has been done for children is something really unimaginable.”
