The COVID-19 vaccines rollout for teachers has been accelerated, while the population’s mass immunisation programme is expected to kick-start next week. More than 52.000 people have received the COVID-19 jab to date and the process is in full swing. Prime Minister Edi Rama and the Minister of Health and Social Protection Ogerta Manastirliu travelled to Kamez municipality to see the vaccine roll-out for teachers there. In his remarks, PM Rama noted that despite the confusing statements regarding the vaccine’s safety and effectiveness, “the prime ministers of all countries that suspended the AstraZeneca vaccine are now receiving the jab themselves to show that the vaccine is safe.”
Health Minister Manastirliu announced that the mass vaccination programme is expected to start as of next week as considerable vaccine doses have been procured and purchased from authorized vaccine distributors.
“Around 1000 teachers are receiving the COVID-19 vaccine here in Kamze. More than 14.000 teachers have received the vaccine and I believe that the number of vaccinated teachers will increase to over 16.000 today, while more than 52.000 people have already received the vaccine across the country to date. The immunisation process is going on throughout the country so that all 38 .000 teachers get vaccinated as soon as possible. All those who have refused to receive the vaccine first, they have asked again to register and we have placed them on top of the list,” Manastirliu said.
More than 52.000 people have received the COVID-19 jab to date and the process is designed to break the COVID-19 infection chain.
“It is on the tip of my tongue, yet I would refrain from saying it for a while, for the grandfathers and grandmothers, who are the ones we love most and we care most about their wellbeing and health. The start of the mass vaccination for the grandfathers and grandmothers is our ambition and the main purpose of my daily work during this period and I hope I would be able to announce the good news soon with the God’s help and the help from our friends and our perseverance,” PM Rama said.
