The COVID-19 vaccine rollout for State Police officers kicked off today throughout the country. Police officers from the Tirana police directorates, Special Forces, Rapid Intervention Force members, the elite special unit Renea officers started receiving the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine at the vaccination site at Air Albania stadium. The process was closely monitored by the Prime Minister Edi Rama, accompanied by the Minister of Health and Social Protection Ogerta Manastirliu, and the State Police Director Ardi Veliu.
“The immunisation process will expand to include all police officers throughout the country. The process started at 8:00 am and around 60 to 80 people are being vaccinated each hour. Around 11,800 State Police workers and 1300 Republican Guard officers are eligible to receiving the vaccine,” the State Police chief Veliu said.
The inoculation drive will expand to all regions of the country in the coming days until all police officers get vaccinated.
