A new high-tech learning centre is being restored to life inside an ultramodern space in Korça library, in a project designed to prepare young people gain access to the global online recruitment market to generate high earnings without being forced to leave their homeland in search of a better future abroad.
Prime Minister Edi Rama visited today the new centre, who was familiarized with some of the accomplishments by a group of talented young people who see a bright promising future in the computer and information technology sector. “An information technology hub will operate inside the new library, where we will train young people to be equipped with IT know-how and offer this space then as a workplace for them. We are seeking to establish a youth community involved in computer and information technology sector. Many people have set their excellent examples in this area and have accessed international online job market,” said Socialist lawmaker Niko Peleshi, also Minister of Defence.
The Pristina-based University for Business and Technology is a partner in the centre’s management, offering their know-how and experience through a qualified staff to train young people in Korça.
Korça Mayor Sotiraq Filo said that thanks to the innovative projects on the Information Technology sector and the tiresome work by talented young people, the south-eastern city will soon become not only a national, but also a regional role model. “The most important program launched by Korça municipality aims at supporting technology and creating ample employment opportunities for young boys and girls through the use of technology. It is a program designed to train as many young people as possible in the Information Technology disciplines, as well as to support businesses operating in this sector and that wish to launch their subsidiaries and offices in our city. This information technology hub is the most important project and we have decided to administer it with a serious partner like the University for Business and Technology (UBT) of Pristina. I am very confident that with the UBT’s experience, the municipality investment and the unsparing support from the government, Korça will soon become a model of success, not only in the country, but also in the region.”
Prime Minister Rama said that similar centres will soon be set up in several municipalities and districts and they will expand throughout the country within this decade. “This is the first example of a chain we will gradually expand to other districts and every municipality across the country. We are seeking to provide Albanian youth a strong alternative to gain access to the global online recruitment market within a decade, so that they would no longer be forced to hit the roads and leave the country. Instead they wouldn’t need to leave neither their city, nor their home and they will become stakeholders in a job market with a lot to offer and with earnings exponentially higher compared to the salaries offered by the domestic market. The fact we are here today along with these excellent partners, the fact that work is already underway here show this no longer merely a dream or a long-cherished wish, but a programme already underway. Our action plan entails funding for this involvement and stimulation of young people. We are here today with the best possible partners, namely the Municipality of Korça and the University for Business and Technology of Pristina and we are absolutely convinced that also thanks to this team here, we will succeed in transforming this dream that is on the path towards coming true, in an ubiquitous reality, starting with some regional centers and then extending to all urban centers across Albania,” Prime Minister Rama said.
