Albanian Government Council of Ministers

A Job, Career and Skill Fair was launched at “Liria” Square in the coastal city of Durres, with a significant number of private businesses, companies and employers operating in various sectors showcasing information about their businesses, employee experience and ample job positions and real employment opportunities in the labor market in Durres district, establishing direct concrete communication relations between the employers and individuals seeking for a job.

Prime Minister Edi Rama visited the fair, inviting citizens and young people in particular to visit the event and see it as a real opportunity to gain access to the labour market.

Hello everyone!

We are here today together with the Minister of Finance and Economy, Durres Mayor, the representative from the EU Delegation office, as well as a number of employers along with the employment and recruitment agencies, both public and private ones, to exhibit through our presence and communication via the media a reality of an ever increasing demand from the Albanian businesses and companies, ranging from big to small business operators, to hire people who should definitely possess a set of certain skills at this development phase of the structure of economy.

A total of 63 employers have come together at this square alone, with more than 1500 job positions on offer for individuals interested in taking up a job. In other words, 63 companies here offer space and employment needs for over 1500 people.

In the meantime, the Regional Employment Office in Durres has a total of 600 jobs on offer in the space of this fair.

I would like to highlight two things.

First of all, in March 2022, according to the statistics of the Employment Registry – and these are no survey findings but official data from the National Employment Registry of the Republic of Albania, which includes all the employees as taxpayers and contributors to the health and social insurance contributions scheme – there are 13,000 more employees than in March 2021. This is a fact.

It is also a fact that the average monthly wages have increased by 8% in the first four months of this year also thanks to the whole effort already made in collaboration and understanding with businesses to correct real salaries for their employees.

To conclude, I would like to tell everyone that it is of course a matter of choice between finding a job locally or leaving abroad to seek a job elsewhere, but certainly things are not as they seem, whether in one aspect or the other. It is true that one can find a higher paying job abroad, but it also comes with higher costs and spending. However, regardless of where one finds a job, either in Albania or abroad, one should develop certain personal and labour skills. Developing professional and trade skills is a must and irreplaceable and this is the reason why we have attached more attention and support, as well as the results in terms of vocational education, with more than 20,000 students currently attending vocational education system schools across the country, whereas a total of 6600 unemployed jobseekers have been attending the vocational courses and a good part of them have already succeeded in finding a job.

We are seeking to go on all together in this direction.

Salaries continue to grow steadily in Albania, although the monthly salaries need to increase further and this is unquestionable, but on the other hand in Albania today, the more you have to offer in technical and professional terms, the higher your salary opportunity.
