Prime Minister Edi Rama is on an official visit to Spain, where he has joined other NATO Heads of State and Government participating in the meeting of the North Atlantic Council taking place in Madrid on Wednesday and Thursday.
Prime Minister Edi Rama and his spouse Linda Rama were invited to a gala dinner hosted by Spain’s King Felipe VI to welcome some 40 heads of state and government ahead of the NATO summit in Madrid.
On Wednesday, PM Rama, together with other participants will be welcomed by the NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg and the President of the Government of Spain, Pedro Sanchez.
Later on the day, PM Rama is set to attend the plenary session of the Summit, due to be attended also by the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Olta Xhaçka, and the Minister of Defence Niko Peleshi.
NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg will deliver the opening speech, while the President of the Government of Spain Pedro Sanchez will also address a welcome speech.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky will address the heads of state and government of NATO member countries at the very beginning of the summit.
After the plenary session, the participating heads of state and government will visit the NATO technology exhibition.
PM Rama and his spouse Linda Rama will visit Prado National Museum in Madrid on Wednesday afternoon, and PM Rama will then attend the dinner hosted by the President of the Government of Spain Pedro Sanchez.
The NATO Summit will go on with its proceedings on Thursday and PM Rama is set to attend together with the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Olta Xhaçka and the Minister of Defence Niko Peleshi.
NATO Parliamentary Assembly President Gerry Connolly will also address this session.
On the second day of the NATO Summit, PM Rama is scheduled to hold a bilateral meeting with the Prime Minister of Sweden Magdalena Andersson.
PM Rama will also attend the agreement signing ceremony with Enagás, Spanish Energy Company and European transmission system operator, which owns and operates the nation’s gas grid.
