Albanian Government Council of Ministers

Prime Minister Edi Rama paid a visit to the International Court of Justice today, where he was received by Vice President Kirill Gevorgian. Thanking the top ICJ representatives for the reception, Prime Minister Rama also spoke about the outstanding issue between Albania and Greece:

“Albania sticks to the idea that filing the case of maritime areas with Greece to the International Court of Justice to be solved based on legal principles serves the interest of both parties. But, before taking this step, we must reach the necessary agreement to take this case to the ICJ, and this agreement has not been reached yet. As you may know, this is not simply a procedure of compromise between the lawyers and technical experts of each party. Our respective teams at the relevant ministries are working and we remain committed to moving in this direction.”

At the end of the meeting, Prime Minister Rama also visited the premises of the Court and got acquainted with a brief history of the institution.
