Prime Minister Rama met President Nishani and shared with the head of State views on the new situation created in the Bank of Albania, following the arrest of Governor Ardian Fullani.
Their views have fully converged on the necessity of ensuring an increasingly stable continuity of work in the Bank of Albania, while in any further step towards normalization two factors should be kept in mind: strengthening of the institution’s independence and guarantee of the highest standards of professionalism in the management of the Bank of Albania.

Prime Minister Edi Rama has been having direct contact with some members of the Supervisory Council of the Bank of Albania to discuss the current situation and the necessity of continuing the normal functioning of the institution.
Additionally, he met yesterday with the person charged by the Supervisory Board as governor in office, Mrs. Elisabeta Gjoni, to show support of the government and of the governing majority to the independence of the Bank of Albania and to the team of technicians of the institution, reaffirming at the same time respect for their renowned professionalism.
The Prime Minister expressed also his full confidence that the Bank of Albania will come out stronger, safer and more transparent from this difficult but healthy change process, at a time when the banking system is solid and significantly growing.
