Mrs. Besa Shahini was born in Pristina, on 1982.
Mrs. Shahini has a rich professional career in Kosovo, Germany, Canada and recently, Albania.
From 2017 to January 2019, Mrs. Shahini has held the position of Deputy Minister of Education, Sport and Youth, mainly focusing on pre-university education.
Mrs. Shahini comes from an experience as Founder and Director of “Plenum for Education” in Pristina, having focus on research and analysis on pre-university education in Kosovo. At the same time, she has been an independent policy analyst for issues on European integration and education. She has worked as senior analyst at European Stability Initiative (ESI) in Berlin. Previously, she has been research and academic assistant at York University, Toronto. Prior to joining ESI, Besa was the co-founder and director of the Kosovar Stability Initiative (IKS). Moreover, she has experience as lecturer at the Institute of Barcelona for International Studies (IBEI).
Mr. Shahini is author of over 20 publications in the field of education and European integration, and at the same time she has been a regular columnist for media in Kosovo.
Mrs. Shahini holds a MPP from the Hertie School of Governance in Berlin, Germany, with full scholarship from “Hertie Foundation”. She holds also a BA in Political Sciences and Public Administration from York University in Toronto, Canada, with “Friends of Glendon” scholarship. Mrs. Shahini has studied with “Jean Chrétier” full scholarship in Lester B. Pearson College, Toronto, Canada.
She speaks fluently English and Serbian language. Also she knows French and German language.
