Evis Sala

From September 2025, Prof. Dr. Evis Sala holds the position of Minister of Health and Social Welfare.

Prof.Dr. Sala is one of the most recognized figures in the field of oncologic imaging at the international level. She served as Founding Rector of the Western Balkans University (2022–2025), laying the academic and strategic foundations of the institution.

Ms. Sala has also directed the Center for Diagnostic Imaging and Oncologic Radiotherapy at the Gemelli Polyclinic.

Prof.Sala has a long academic and research career in the United Kingdom, where for many years she was affiliated with the University of Cambridge and co-led the Advanced Cancer Imaging Program and the Integrated Cancer Medicine Program at the Cancer Research Center in Cambridge.

Her scientific research focuses on the development of functional imaging biomarkers for the rapid assessment of cancer treatment response, using physiological and metabolic imaging of the tumor habitat. Her areas of expertise include radiogenomics, the integration of quantitative imaging with genomics, proteomics, and metabolomics, as well as the use of artificial intelligence for image reconstruction and advanced data analysis.

She is also a distinguished mentor and speaker, engaged in educating and inspiring the next generation of medical and scientific professionals.
