Construction of the needed infrastructure to connect the new housing units at the construction site of the new residential neighbourhood in Kavaje is heading towards completion. Work includes road network, the supply engineering networks and every other detail for the area picked to host the post-earthquake recovery and reconstruction program. Once the site prepared, work will kick off within a month and a half to build the foundations of the new residential neighbourhood, consisting of 7 apartment buildings with some 300 apartment houses.

Prime Minister Edi Rama and the Minister of State for Reconstruction visited the site to inspect the ongoing construction works. “Construction of the entire ground infrastructure has completed, including the water supply network, sewerage and wastewater systems. The road network is taking shape dhe public lighting is being installed. The work is expected to complete within a month, except the final asphalt layer that will be paved once construction of the apartment buildings completes,” project manager said.

The Reconstruction Minister Ahmetaj described the new residential neighbourhoods as a model and one of the most beautiful ones to be built after the last year’s devastating earthquake.

PM Rama underlined that contracts on the construction projects will be signed within a week. “Those waiting for their new homes in apartment buildings find it sometimes difficult to figure out that it is a matter of very complex projects. We are doing utmost efforts, but some more patience is needed,” the Premier concluded.

Intense work is underway at the reconstruction sites that will host new school buildings, individual houses and new residential neighbourhoods.
