The picturesque village of Droboniku in the region of Berat will rekindle curiosity of tourists and visitors thanks to the newly-built road that makes it fully accessible. The six-km new road has been built in line with highest infrastructure standards, shorting the drive time from Berat’s centre to the village of Drobonik to just few minutes.
“This is one of the most significant investments combining tourism in the municipality of Berat and development of farm-based agritourism, an investment regularly promised to local residents over the past 30 years,” Berat Mayor Ervin Demo said as he accompanied Prime Minister walking along the new road leading to Drobonik.
The quality and fresh local produce and crops grown by local hard-working people are an added value that will stand out more as the new road will provide local farmers access to the market. “This road leads to one of the most scenic villages with stunning landscape and rich traditions, abundant harvest of crops and fruits, cherries and olive in particular. It is one of the villages with most notable features as the work tradition hasn’t changed over the past 30 years. Local residents are known to be hard-working people, growing best quality produce ad crops, not only in this area, but also in whole Albania,” Mayor Demo added.
Drobonik Church is one of the assets adding to the tourist attractions for people to visit in this village, which known not only for this reason. An interesting adventure sport like parachuting from mountain tops has given way to a special project on landscape restoration and re-greening of the area where this adventure sport activities take place. “Drobonik is home to an amazing church and can be transformed into a symbol village. We will design a very beautiful project in collaboration with local authorities to transform this village into a balcony of Berat. A very interesting sport takes place in Berat, namely parachuting from the top of Partizani mountain and we need to design a landscape restoration project to transform this mountain into an exceptional tourist destination for the whole area, completing whole region of Berat as a major tourist destination in Albania. Agritourism will experience quick growth here,” Tourism Minister Blendi Klosi said, adding that “Dobronik could become a reference point for development of agritourism in the entire area along this beautiful panoramic road, stretching from Berat to Gjirokaster.”
