For the first time, the Law 20/2020 paves way for registration of agricultural lands for local residents in the country’s coastal areas who could neither register nor obtain their property ownership certificates.
Prime Minister Edi Rama examined the new law and the Himara’s urban development at a meeting with local residents along the new promenade, which has given a complete and fresh look to the coastal tourist town and has attracted a growing number of visitors and has significantly increased value of properties.
“We are discussing and exploring the opportunities to clear the way for an investment in Himara’s harbour designed to transform it into a tourist port. Projects on other ports have entered an advanced stage. Saranda port project is already underway. Durres tourist port project is set to kick off in few next days, whereas project on Vlora port has entered its final stage and the contract will be negotiated soon. We also plan to build the Shengjin port. However, the process concerning Himara port hasn’t advanced and we have made a series of attempts, but the studies show the port is very deep and the construction cost would be very high.
The rehabilitation and restoration projects in Vuno and Dhermi have increased value of properties. Conditions are being created there, first in Dhermi and then in Vunoi, for the two to become important destination of elite tourism and would generate lot of income.
The property rights issue is now on the right track and issuance of the property titles is already underway. You all know the issue of properties was chaotic, which has also slowed down our efforts to solve this issue swiftly. However, the solution has now been found.
