Work is full steam ahead and the second phase of the Waterfront Promenade in Vlora, most commonly known as the ”Lungomare 2”,  is inching closer to completion and the project will offer citizens a public beach in  accordance with the highest standards and will make the southern coastal city more attractive to visitors during the upcoming summer tourism season. 

Prime Minister Edi Rama visited Vlora on Sunday to closely inspect progress of the ongoing construction work on this project.

The government head sought to learn more about the project’s details as work is running on schedule to offer citizens and visitors of all age groups the public spaces they need.

The 1.3-km project is an extension of the main Vlora Waterfront Promenade, commonly known as Lungomare 1, which, in addition to creating public spaces, it is also designed to provide solutions to the parking problems in the coastal city through construction of a two-storey underground parking lot with a capacity of 160 parking places.

The second phase of Lungomare Vlora Waterfront project, in addition to the seafront promenade’s rehabilitation will also create a new natural beach, which will include one Olympic-size swimming pool and a smaller swimming pool for children, parking area, as well as other public services to attract as many visitors as possible.

The Independence Museum Park is another Urban Renaissance project, part of Vlora’s transformation mosaic, which is gradually taking its final shape in the pedestrian area from the Skela roundabout area to the port in the southern city. The new park will provide a natural and beautiful connection between the new “Ismail Qemali” boulevard and the Waterfront Promenade or Lungomare.

Prime Minister Rama stopped over the construction site launched recently in a project designed to create a completely different and new space for local residents, the daily visitors, as well as foreign tourists who visit Vlora, providing everyone the opportunity, regardless of their age, to have more space and more interaction with one another.
