The new residential complex being built from scratch to house the quake-affected families in the village of Bubq is set to complete by end of June. As many as 120 families that lost their dwellings in the tragic night of November 26,2019, will receive the keys to their newly-built homes in this neighbourhood that will set a post-earthquake reconstruction model along with the new residential complexes in Thumane, Fushe-Kruje and other areas worst hit by the devastating earthquake.

Prime Minister Edi Rama, accompanied by the Minister of State for Reconstruction Arben Ahmetaj and Kruja Mayor Artur Bushi, visited the new residential neighbourhood to get up close look at the ongoing construction work.

The new complex combines multi-family and single-family buildings and service units. Apart from the residential buildings, 75 more single-family units will soon complete for the quake-affected families that will begin a new life in new homes built back better, larger, more resilient and more beautiful.

“Seven residential buildings are set to be constructed in this site of the new neighbourhood, and construction of three of them has already entered an advanced phase. Entire infrastructure has been built from scratch. On our right, a total of 75 single-family homes are being constructed. The exterior wall cladding of the buildings’ facades is being built with materials that meet highest contemporary standards. The buildings feature mostly two and three-bedroom apartments. Thermal insulation system is being installed on the walls of the single-family homes to improve insulation performance and enable increased energy efficiency. The work on building single-family homes is scheduled to complete in the next 40 to 50 days, whereas construction of the apartment buildings will be handed over on June 25,” Ahmetaj said.

The work on infrastructure will go on with the construction of the communal premises, the greenery, while the finish touches are being put to the new school building in the area. The new residential neighbourhoods in Thumane, Fushe-Kruje and Bubq – according to Reconstruction Minister – will set new urban standards for combination of architecture, infrastructure and the public spaces.
