Deputy Prime Minister Erjon Braçe, the Minister of Tourism and Environment Blendi Klosi, members of parliament for the Berat constituency and many local residents marked today the 75th anniversary of the liberation of the south-western district of Berat and paid tribute to the fallen heroes of the Anti-Fascist National Liberation War.
In his remarks during the commemoration event, Deputy PM Braçe recalled and showed respect for some of the most prominent protagonists and heroes who sacrificed their lives in the war to liberate Berat and whole Albania, including Gjin Marku, Neshat Hysi, Kadri Hoxha, Kristaq Capo, etc.
“We honor and respect all other Berat martyrs, whom we commemorate right every May 5 and September 13, with Margarita Tutulani being given absolute prominence, not only as a symbol of a young antifascist girl but also a symbol of Albanian society emancipation,” Deputy PM Braçe said.
We are proud – the Deputy Premier went on to say – that our grandparents and parents have chosen the right side of history:
“During the Anti-Fascist National Liberation War, Albanians did nothing wrong, we made no mistake when choosing the right side of history and sided with the great Allies of World War II. Whoever feels ashamed of the right choice of the Albanian people in World War II and the Anti-Fascist Liberation War, he will forever live in disgrace. We are today proud of what our grandparents, our parents have done, and will continue to respect every effort of Albania and the Albanians to liberate the people and to confront fascism. Freedom and anti-fascism are today the essence and value of a just, equal and social Europe.”
