Jaho and his hardworking family have built a guesthouse both traditional and modern nestled amid lush greenery and hilly scenic landscape of Nivice in the region of Tepelene, southern Albania. In addition to processing and producing dairy products for the domestic market, the guesthouse, through the support of the Agricultural and Rural Development Agency, also offers hospitality to local visitors.

Prime Minister Edi Rama visited the newly-launched agritourism enterprise as part of his tour to inspect a series of important investment projects in the area of Tepelene.

The lack of accommodation facilities in the area forced the many local and international visitors to the area to spend only few hours amid the area’s mindboggling mountainous landscape. But Jaho took advantage of the area’s abundant resources to build his guesthouse to allow visitors enjoy the scenic beauty as well as the traditional delicacies.  “The guesthouse project benefited support under the national scheme for 2018. The project completed in 2019. The business started as a small dairy farm to meet the local farmers’ need to transport and process milk in a nearer location instead of travelling all the way to Gjirokaster. This guesthouse was built through hard work and passion to press ahead with the project in this rugged but beautiful terrain through the state budget support. The facility features eight bedrooms and service venues,” the head of the Agricultural and Rural Development Agency Frida Krifca said.

Development of agritourism businesses and guesthouses and return of emigrants back home to invest their savings in this blessed area will support the area’s economic recovery through tourism. “This is a natural wonder and we should turn it into a major income and employment source for the local residents. If emigrants return back home and invest their savings in such structures, they would earn a lot more than they would earn while working abroad. This is for sure,” PM Rama noted.
