Albanian Government Council of Ministers

Deputy Prime Minister Mr. Niko Peleshi, received in a meeting the Ambassador of the State of Kuwait to the Republic of Albania Najeeb Abdulrahman Al-Bader at the premises of the Council of Ministers in Tirana.

Ambassador Al-Bader, during the meeting, handed over to Peleshi the contribution of the State of Kuwait of 5 million euros aimed to support the scheme of Prime Minister of Albania, Edi Rama, related to a number of priority projects that the Government of Albania intends to implement focusing on effective delivery within the reform program of the government.

Niko Peleshi expressed his deep appreciation and gratitude to H.H the Emir of the State of Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, as well as the government and people of Kuwait for the generous contribution to the major milestones in one of Albanian government’s ambitious reform program ,which comes within the frame of the ongoing support of the State of Kuwait to the Albanian people, which reflects the extent of the depth and solidity of excellent and historical bilateral relations between the two countries in all political, economic and cultural fields.

In this regard, Peleshi notes the efforts of the State of Kuwait to support the development process in Albania since 1993, in particular through projects undertaken by the Kuwaiti Fund for Economic Development in road infrastructure, transport, irrigation and others, of a total value of 75 Million Dollars.

Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that the contribution will be allocated to five priorities, and that will enable the government to face a number of challenges, which facilitate the implementation of European Union required reforms. He explained that this project contributes to the skill capacity building and decrease delivery timelines.

Further Peleshi assured the Ambassador of the State of Kuwait he is looking forward with great interest to the official visit of Prime Minister Edi Rama to Kuwait on 18 November, which will contribute to the further development of bilateral relations and discuss all matters of mutual interest.

On his part, Kuwaiti Ambassador in Tirana Najeeb Al Bader expressed his happiness for the excellent level of bilateral cooperation between the two countries. Al Bader stressed that the decision of the State of Kuwait to finance this important project comes within the framework of support towards the efforts of the Government of Albania to strengthen the rule of law, democracy, judicial and economic reforms, the fight against organized crime and other reforms that contribute to the integration process in the European Union.

Ambassador Al Bader stressed on the importance of this ambitious project to be launched, and that he is confident that it will contribute to meet a number of challenges facing the Albanian Government in strengthening capacity building. He further emphasized the importance of the upcoming visit of Prime Minister Rama to the State of Kuwait, which, he stated, will establish a new quantum leap in the fields of mutual cooperation.

Both parties affirmed their confidence and common desire that the bilateral relations between the Republic of Albania and the State of Kuwait will witness further bridges of cooperation in all fields of mutual interest in the near future.
