Albanian Government Council of Ministers

Prime Minister Rama visited today “Vjen” livestock farm, one of the exemplary farms in Albania, which, thanks to support from funds and subsidies, has increased its production capacity, reaching up to 19 tons of milk per day.

The Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku, the Director of the Agency for Agricultural and Rural Development, Ardita Kuçi, and the Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Dhimitër Kote, closely observed the entire process the livestock go through, from feeding to milking.

“We had a capacity of around 1,050 heads, today we have 1,700 heads, and we hope to reach 2,000 heads in the coming years. We produce around 19 tons of milk every day, which we sell to four factories here in Albania. If it hadn’t been for the government’s and the European Union’s financing, we wouldn’t have what we see now in operation. Maybe we would have reached this with our own efforts, but by 2027-2028. We are now in 2025, and we’ve been importing for four years, seeing its benefits every day because we can manage the herd,” said one of the entrepreneurs.

The Prime Minister praised the work done on this farm and stated that unity should be a priority. “In my opinion, stimulating unity doesn’t mean everyone should be the same. Those who don’t have the ability to do it this way should join forces and get their share. This year, there’s another innovation: the financing line from the Bank of Albania, offering 250 million euros, and here you can access it freely since you are a large business. With that support, it becomes even more significant. Plus, we absolutely need to make the leap to join the European Union, because we will directly receive 300 million euros per year just for agriculture. On the condition that we unite our forces,” said the Prime Minister.

“In addition to the support they received for 50 heads, now they receive support for more than 50 heads and have expanded the scheme and support for male calves,” said Deputy Minister Kote.

“Investments in such enterprises across the country aim not only to increase productivity but also to raise standards in preparation for the European Union market”, said the Prime Minister.
