Urban transformation is underway across cities nationwide, expanding and enhancing road networks with upgraded infrastructure that is easily accessible for both pedestrians and vehicles.
The municipality of Divjakë is also benefiting from the government’s investment in new neighborhoods and roadways. Currently, the work is being carried out on the Gurë–Remas road, which spans approximately 3.2 kilometers.
This key road links the villages of Gurë and Remas, while also connecting to the Karavasta road.
From an urban planning perspective, this road passes through areas where residential buildings are irregularly arranged and have low construction density. Public spaces and sidewalks are nearly nonexistent. Moreover, the area lacks a sewage system and street lighting.
Prime Minister Edi Rama visited Divjakë today to inspect the progress of the construction, which will provide modern infrastructure, significantly benefiting the residents of Remas and surrounding areas.
“We are currently inspecting one of the segments being developed by the Albanian Development Fund in the municipality of Divjakë. This is the Remas–Gurë segment, which is 3.2 kilometers long and passes through a populated area that is not well-planned. We have already completed the geotextile work for this section, laid gravel, and in some areas, the asphalt layer is now being applied. The side channels have been cleared, addressing one of the region’s biggest issues. We also consider this road very important—not only because it connects two villages but also because it links to the Karavasta road, which is central to our plans for developing tourism in this area,” explained Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Belinda Balluku, who accompanied the Prime Minister during the visit.
Meanwhile, the Mayor of Divjakë, Josif Gorrea, highlighted that with the government’s support, the area will experience major development. “This entire area will undergo revitalization in all aspects. Agricultural development, at least in the municipality I represent, has been outstanding, and the government’s assistance has been tangible, visible, clear, and without any electoral agenda,” he stated.
Prime Minister Rama, for his part, praised the significant progress made in modernizing the infrastructure, including the opening of agricultural routes for product transportation and the development of tourist roads.
