Albanian Government Council of Ministers

The Durrës Beach Promenade was the latest stop for Prime Minister Edi Rama during his ongoing inspections in the city. The promenade, stretching from the Dajlani Bridge to the Kavalishenca Building, is currently undergoing a major rehabilitation. Its new design will add significant value to both the local homes and the hotels and businesses in the area.

“We are working on two parallel construction sites. One involves the continuation of the promenade, completing the existing section. This part includes the promenade itself, activity zones, and green spaces. Additionally, we are addressing the facades of many of the buildings, installing a thermal insulation system. The second contract focuses on rehabilitating the coastline.                                                                                                                                                  We are also working on a third project, currently in the conceptual phase, which aims to establish tourism service units along this new coastal stretch. This will complete the entire redevelopment of the area,” said Dritan Agolli, Director of the Albanian Development Fund.

The promenade will be lined with 520 trees and palm trees along its entire length. “Thanks to this lady here, the mayor, my colleague Anita, and with our support and that of the Albanian Development Fund, we are expanding the beach by reclaiming 100 meters of sea. We will have an extraordinary beach. All the damage caused to the beach during the chaotic years of freedom, democracy, and madness will become history. The first generation will gain a much wider beach, and in the middle of this, the municipality will have its own property, where, together with the Albanian Development Fund and the National Investment Agency, we will create a series of beautiful service points, just like those found at the most prestigious beaches worldwide. Service points and areas for children and the elderly will make this a thriving hub of tourist activity, as Durrës truly deserves,” stated Prime Minister Rama.

The project is expected to be completed before the start of the new tourist season. This part of Durrës’ coastline has been in poor condition for years, but once the work is finished, the area is set to experience a significant boost in development.
