Today, we celebrate the National Flag Day, the Independence Day of Albania. The state ceremony was held in Vlora’s Flag Square where independent Albania’s national flag was raised for the first time and the country’s independence was declared in 1912. The celebration event started with the rendition of the national anthem and the National Flag raising ceremony. Prime Minister Edi Rama laid a wreath at the he memorial Monument to the Unknown Freedom Fighter, in a tribute to the sacrifice of the fallen for their homeland.
Prime Minister Rama extended his best wishes to Albanian citizens on this historic day:
“I would like to send my best wishes to all Albanians wherever they are on this blessed National Flag and Independence Day of Albania, as well as on this day that also marks the birth of the legendary commander of Kosovo’s liberation war. I would like to especially extend my National Flag Day wishes to President Hashim Thaçi and his comrade-in-arms, who are not at home today.
