“Naim Frashëri” High School is one of the many pre-university institutions that has been completely rebuilt as part of the post-earthquake reconstruction efforts. Prime Minister Edi Rama, along with the Minister of Education and Sports, Ogerta Manastriliu, visited the newly reconstructed building, which now serves over 800 students.

“In Durrës alone, 38 schools have been fully rebuilt as part of the ongoing reconstruction process. We are also nearing the completion of the ‘Bernardina Qeraxhi’ school, which will soon be designated as a sports school.  This will mark the launch of a new program for young athletes, especially football players, and I believe we will finalize this project within the next 2-3 weeks. The sports teams are already active, and the school sports leagues have started. These institutions are also benefiting from projects aimed at enhancing school libraries, with an annual fund allocated by the Ministry of Education. Every year, we collaborate with publishing houses to distribute books to schools, with approximately 500 schools receiving this support. We are already planning for this year’s supply of additional learning materials. Furthermore, all schools now have security officers, social workers, and psychologists. We are also working to expand the presence of security officers in smaller schools and are preparing to double the number of security staff soon,” said Minister Manastriliu.

After the damage caused by the 2019 earthquake, the school was included in the “EU4Schools” program. The newly reconstructed building now offers state-of-the-art facilities that meet modern European standards, providing an optimal environment for both students and educational staff.
