Prime Minister Edi Rama today welcomed the police officer Ina Nuka, who was seriously injured in the line of duty in late November. Ina, who returned home few days ago after she recovered through a new treatment method in Turkey where she was transported in an air ambulance of the Health Ministry

Ina, who underwent a rare implant surgery to replace a thumb through a new treatment method developed by Turkish doctors, said she had underwent a very difficult surgery, just like the Turkish plastic constructive surgeons who treated her have already confirmed. “My postoperative condition was a surprise to the surgeons themselves. It was a new method applied for first time ever and it ended successfully,” she said.

She sounded optimistic also about the fact the full recovery and rehabilitation will take place within a relatively short time. “The implanted thumb will regain function and sensitivity within six months, while doctors will remove the surgical staples this week and the physical therapy will ensue to make sure that fingers and the hand regain function properly.”

To Prime Minister Edi Rama it is important that Ina reintegrates into her daily social life, as well as her professional life as soon as possible. To this end, she will be granted full financial and moral support. “The government will adopt a decision to provide both financial and moral support and solidarity, as well as opportunity to fully recover and then fully reintegrate. I believe you will also gradually start work,” Rama said.

The Minister of Interior Sandër Lleshi, who was accompanying the police officer Ina Nuka during this meeting, said that Ina had successfully met all the challenges in carrying out the tasks and she enjoys trust of all police top officials.

Meanwhile, Ina wishes to resume training as soon as possible. Prime Minister Rama encouraged her to return and play basketball too. “What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger,” Nietzsche said. So you are now stronger. Have a happy and healthy New Year. We have agreed to play basketball together next year,” the Premier said.
