Albanian Government Council of Ministers

DEPUTY PM NIKO PELESHI PAID A VISIT IN TROPOJË AND INAUGURATED THE ROAD BAJRAM CURRI – MARKAJ (MUNICIPALITY OF BUJAN). DURING THIS VISIT HE TALKED TO RESIDENTS ON THE PERSPECTIVE OF DEVELOPING THE AREA AND THE IMPACT OF THE ADMINISTRATIVE AND TERRITORIAL REFORM.

Talking about the territorial reform, Deputy PM said that it is a very important instrument of the government’s efforts to promote a harmonic development of different regions in the country. “You have heard about the new territorial reform. It is not just a caprice to create a new map or to change borders. Albania is one and in order for it to develop, all its parts must develop. It is not only the capital city and the coast that will develop. Albanians must feel good and live well in Tropoja as well as in Saranda, in Konispol and everywhere. But this cannot be done with only words and a few roads.”

The lack of development policies and of attention by the state to help economic growth of the area has been one major complaint by residents and one key discussion issue.

“More than about the road we are here to talk about what we are talking. We want to know the potentials for economic development of the area, how can we support not only with infrastructure but also with new projects.” – Deputy PM said. “More than about roads, we should talk about development plans for agriculture, economy, business opportunities, and tourism which is very important.”

Another concern of the residents is the road Kukës – Tropojë which is in very poor conditions and creates major problems in connecting Tropojë with other parts of the county. Safet Gjici, Prefect of Kukës, who also attended the inauguration, ensured residents that efforts are being made to solve the problem. “As Deputy PM said, I am sure that by the end of the year the road Kukës – Has will have another layer. This will be a very good thing for Tropojë because it will shorten a large stretch of road.” Mr. Gjici said.
