Albanian Government Council of Ministers

The old road with potholes leading to one of the most recreational areas of the capital city, the Park of Dajt, will soon be a distant memory for residents of Tirana. It will be replaced by a new road of contemporary standards which will stimulate its transformation into a genuine tourist area for the capital city.

Prime Minister Edi Rama visited today the work site for its construction. The works manager explained that the road will ensure not only normal movement of vehicles, but will also avoid traffic flows. In addition, a bus station and parking areas are included in the project. “We are planning to improve the project for vans and bus stations, for waste bins, parking lots, so that the road will not be blocked” – the works manager said while presenting some of the elements of this project.

According to Kujtim Qefalia, head of the municipality, an important element of this project is the running lane that will enable people to go for a run in the morning.

The MP of the area, Xhemal Qefalia, said that the construction of this road is a promise kept for the residents of Dajt and the capital city. “We were here two years ago when Berisha used to promise the construction of roads, but roads were falling apart. People were not able to come to Dajt. You and the government kept that promise, and the residents of Dajt welcome you and thank you from the heart for this commitment fulfilled by the government. This road has all the necessary parameters to be completed on due time. I hope that residents of the capital city, but also from other parts of the country, will come this winter to the mount of Dajt, as a big National Park” – Qefalia said.

Prime Minister Rama called it a strategic road for the economic and urban development of the capital city. Now that Dajt is part of the new Municipality of Tirana, the Prime Minister noted, we will go own with new development projects in order to transform it in an area suitable for tourism and agribusiness.

“Xhemal and I were exactly here two years go and observed with deep sorrow that this strategic road for the economic and urban development of the capital city was left in miserable conditions. We decided it would be a priority road. Work has started, but let me clarify that this road does not lead to my house. For mysterious reasons, the road leading to my house is one of the roads build previously by Sali, although it is not of great importance. Neighbors tell a story about lands for determined interests, but I won’t dwell into this. The important thing is that we will build a tourist road leading up to the Park of Dajt. Now that this park is part of the greater municipality of Tirana, we will go on with projects for the entire area which has a great potential. People here are very hard working, and all they need is a little support to transform the area in an area suitable for tourism, agribusiness, in an area of great support to the environment around Tirana.”
