PREMIER MINISTER EDI RAMA WAS ON AN OFFICIAL TWO-DAY VISIT TO QATAR AT THE INVITATION OF PRIME MINISTER OF QATAR, SHEIKH ABDULLAH BIN NASSER AL THANI. DURING THIS VISIT HE WAS ACCOMPANIED BY MINISTER OF FOREIGN AFFIARS MR. BUSHATI, MINISTER OF ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT MR. AHMETAJ, MINISTER OF TRANSPORT AND INFRASTRUCTURE MR. HAXHINASTO, MINISTER OF TOURISM MRS. GJERMENI, BY PMS SHALSI AND KUSHI, AS WELL BY THE MAYORS OF DURRES AND LEZHA, VANGJUSH DAKO AND VIKTOR TUSHA.

During these two days the Prime Minister held a series of meetings with representatives of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Qatar, Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassem bin Mohammed Al Thani, as well as with the Minister of State and CEO of the Qatar Investments Authority, Mr. Ahmad M. Al – Sayed. Conversations at these meetings focused on promoting trade and economic exchanges between the two countries. In addition, various projects in the fields of energy, tourism and agriculture were discussed.

Prime Minister Rama held a meeting with the Chairman of the Consultative Council of Qatar, Mr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khulaifi. He was also received at a special meeting by the Prime Minister of Qatar, Sheikh Abdullah Bin Nasser Al Thani. At the conclusion of the meeting with the Prime Minister of Qatar, Minister of foreign Affairs Mr. Bushati signed on behalf of the Albanian delegation two agreements with the government of Qatar: the “Agreement between the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Albania and the Government of the State of Qatar on the regulation for employment of labor force in the State of Qatar” which regulates the employment of Albanian citizens in Qatar, and the” Memorandum of Understanding between the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Albania and the Government of the State of Qatar for cooperation in the field of health.”

During the meeting with Qatari Prime Minister, conversation focused mainly on promoting economic cooperation between our two countries. Prime Minister Rama thanked his counterpart for the support that his country will give to Albania. In conclusion, the Albanian delegation attended a lunch hosted by the Prime Minister of Qatar in the Qatari Royal Couch.

Today, Prime Minister Edi Rama was received in a special meeting by the Emir of Qatar, His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. During the meeting they discussed the possibilities of cooperation in the field of tourism and agriculture. Of particular interest was considered also the cooperation in air transport, a sector in which “Qatar Airways” is one of the main lines. Emir of Qatar expressed also willingness to welcome more Albanians in Qatar for possible employment primarily in the field of health, education and construction.
