Albanian Government Council of Ministers

Prime Minister Edi Rama and Mayor of Tirana were the first guests entering Halil Sula’s newly-built home after his old house collapsed when a strong earthquake battered the country in September. Sula family live in a new house offering much better housing and living conditions than the old one. Tirana Mayor noted that work to construct the new house completed in record time.

Prime Minister Rama, after announcing he started the day with a meeting with a team of foreign experts to discuss rebuilding program and ways to find new construction modules, said that “new seismic-proof and modern technologies are being explored as they also allow for faster construction process and eco-friendly buildings. I am confident we will do a very good job and we are dealing with this on daily basis.”

The Premier noted that goal is to make sure that better and completely safe homes are built for all quake-affected families. “The earthquake is now over and normal life has resumed for the largest part of the affected people, while the garbage bins’ talks have restarted. But for me, every day begins and ends with the earthquake, in the sense that this is the top priority. Every morning and every evening we hold a meeting about the earthquake,” the Premier said.
