Again and again and again, the invitation to dialogue and the willingness to meet with anyone who seeks and believes in dialogue remain open.
I am ready to meet anywhere, in any place, at any hour, with those who believe that Albania must be better and that Albania is made better through decency, through the exchange and discussion of views, however opposing they may be.
Violent opposition, opposition by force, opposition that defies reason cannot override the need for dialogue, for the discussion of views, however opposing, and for democratic coexistence in a country where the past has no chance of returning. And whoever held the capital hostage by importing ANTIFA’s terror here and serving the interests of others in the name of students, placing themselves at the forefront of the students with their faces covered, must know that they will be held accountable.
They will be held accountable under the law. They will face criminal liability. They will be held accountable in proportion to the seriousness of the offence committed and the extent of this profound misconception.
It is a profound misconception to think that you can impose your will on an entire people, on an entire community, on the ordinary families of this country who want to go to work, through the language of stones and fire.
A very profound misconception that will become a very important lesson for anyone who believed that, through it, they could change Albania’s course.
Albania’s course will not change.
Albania will continue straight ahead. Albania will carry the flag of Ismail Qemali and Skanderbeg to that long-dreamed-of summit, and Albania will be part of that European Union, a goal that the forces involved in this grave wrongdoing cannot prevent.
