-Every family that lost private home due to the devastating earthquake will move into a much better house than the old one this year.
The family of Namik Koxhaj in Koder Kamez, Tirana, sank into despair as their old house was completely destroyed following a strong earthquake that hit the country on September 21. However, today is the day for a fresh start for Namik and his two daughters. Their new house was built from scratch and it offers optimal and decent housing conditions.
Prime Minister Edi Rama, accompanied by the Mayor of Tirana Erion Veliaj, today visited Koxhaj family in Koder Kamez.
“The old house was completely levelled. The new home built under the state-funded program is a great help to our family,” Namik said.
“I wish you all the very best and enjoy your new house,” the Premier wished the family head, who has suffered a great deal of pain after losing two sons and his wife, while the earthquake almost completely ruined him.
Mayor Veliaj noted that Tirana Municipality plans to revitalize the entire urban area in Koder Kamez.
“A new kindergarten is being constructed here, while work to construct a new road will kick off soon. The rehabilitation of the Koder Kamez block has completed. The Institut neighbourhood is also undergoing an urban renewal project and “Mother Teresa” school building is being reconstructed. Schoolchildren will no longer be forced to travel to Lapraka to attend school. This is the third consecutive year when no flood events have been recorded in the area. The Municipality is also implementing a project on building linear parks in the area,” Veliaj said.
