The “Festivals and Creative Industry Hub” is taking shape in the city of Korçë, a new project with a direct impact on the cultural, tourism and economic development of the region. Prime Minister Edi Rama visited the construction site to inspect the progress of the works.
Built on an area of 18 hectares, the complex is intended to become a modern multifunctional centre for hosting festivals, concerts and artistic activities throughout the year.
The project includes dedicated spaces for large scale events, open and indoor stages, capacity for thousands of participants, service areas, parking facilities, and supporting infrastructure for tourism and the creative industry.
The Head of the Albanian Development Fund, Dritan Agolli, said:
“Here where we are now, practically the central area, is the festival area. We are building a stage and an indoor space that will have a seated capacity of 1,500 to 2,000 people. The stage, meanwhile, has a dual function. It serves the indoor area, when it is enclosed and protected from weather conditions, but also the outdoor area. This field here will be fully arranged and will become an open festival ground, with a capacity of up to 20,000 people, enabling the organisation of events of regional and international scale.”
The complex will also include camper areas, spaces dedicated to nightlife, summer stages and recreational areas, creating a new destination for cultural tourism and entertainment.
Meanwhile, the project’s main infrastructure is nearing completion, including the internal road network, sewerage systems, lighting and electricity supply. The project will also serve as a practical space for young people and students of the creative industries, helping connect education with professional practice.
Although still under development, the area has already begun to attract important cultural events, including the “MIK Festival” and artistic activities of the Opera, positioning Korçë as a new centre of culture and festivals in Albania.
