Prime Minister Rama announced several changes to the government cabinet, approved at today’s meeting of the Council of Ministers.

Minister of the Interior Besfort Lamallari will step down from the leadership of the respective Ministry in order to join the Prime Minister’s team at the Prime Minister’s Office.

Meanwhile, Local Government will be incorporated as a structure into the Ministry of the Interior, under the leadership of Mr Ervin Demo. During the meeting held in his office, Prime Minister Rama thanked Besfort Lamallari and Ervin Demo for their work in leading their respective ministries and wished them success in their new roles.

Prime Minister Edi Rama: As we discussed at the government meeting, today I have decided that we should make a change in the team that is on the field, and Besfort, from leading the Ministry of the Interior, will move to my bench, together with me and the team here at the Prime Minister’s Office, while Ervin, until now the Minister of Local Government, will take over the Ministry of Interior, where we will also integrate local government matters, something that is not new in the history of the ministry, but which, after having taken on a considerably more complete form while standing separately, will now become part of the structure of the ministry’s areas of work.
