Prime Minister Edi Rama received today the Foreign Minister of Latvia, Mr. Edgars Rinkevics, who from the outset of the meeting expressed his pleasure and congratulated the Prime Minister on Albania getting the candidate status.

Prime Minister Rama and Latvian Foreign Minister praised the friendly and cooperative spirit that characterizes the relations between the two countries and expressed the will of both governments to consolidate these relationships in the future, as well as to expand the space of cooperation in the economic and political sphere.

The meeting focused extensively on Albania’s European perspective and on the European perspective of the whole region. In this regard, the Prime Minister said that regional cooperation has a special importance for a common and better future for the citizens of these countries.

On his part, the Latvian Foreign Minister Rinkevics praised the progress made by Albania in the fields of different areas, as well as its achievements in the integration process, noting that Latvia will continue to support and promote Albania in this journey. Prime Minister Rama said that the Albanian government remains committed to go forward with the integration process, fulfilling all obligations.
