The Lushnje-Berat lot is viable starting from today, while the whole road will be functional in a few months. With an investment of 490 million ALL, the 5.5 kilometer lot is a thoroughly new construction. Prime Minister Edi Rama inspected today this lot, where meanwhile works are being carried out for signage, lighting and greenery. To raise standards and road safety, the road track was thoroughly redesigned, residential areas were avoided and the two lane 11 meter wide road crosses fields throughout its length.

This lot is one of the three lots of the road Lushnje-Berat, one of the most important roads of the south infrastructure, having a great impact on one of the tourist and agricultural regions of the country. Due to its poor conditions without any standard, this road had become a vital problem for residents and especially for farmers of the area. Its construction was given priority, and the entire road is expected to be functional within two months.

Road Authority director Dashamir Xhika explained how the project of this lot, as well as the entire road project, underwent transformation in order to build it according to appropriate standards, while the green dimension has been envisaged for the first time in such projects. “The project has undergone changes both in technical and signage terms. Greenery will be placed on both sides of the road. This is a project of contemporary standards. Meanwhile, the other two lots, II and III, are expected to be completed. The road is expected to be finished in 2 months, including the roundabouts with artwork”- ARA’s Director said.

According to the Prime Minister, the green dimension is an important element, especially of tourist roads. “A special attention should be paid to the green, in order to have a proper tourist road, so that those who travel from and to Berat will feel a great tourist attraction” – the Prime Minister said.
