Meri is the first New Year baby girl born at stroke of midnight as the calendar flipped to 2021. The newborn is in good health and doctors at “Koço Gliozheni” maternity hospital! Meri and her mother were extended a special greeting by Prime Minister Edi Rama, who visited the maternity hospital today morning.

“First babies of the new year at the Geraldine Queen maternity were girls too,” the Minister of Health and Social Protection Ogerta Manastirliu said. In addition to the symbolic gifts for the newborn and the young mothers, PM Rama also handed over the baby bonus offered to parents at all maternity hospitals under the government’s social program.

In the meantime, the government head pointed out the fact that health professionals will see their monthly salary increase by 40% starting this month.

“The monthly salary will increase by 40 % starting this month. I believe it is a significant pay hike. I wish you all the best, good health, happiness and every success this year,” PM Minister extended his wishes to Koço Gliozheni medical staff in Tirana.
