Albanian Government Council of Ministers

The Mosaic of Tirana, one of the treasures of Albanian archaeology, has been reconstructed and revived as one of the most important tourist destinations in the capital. This unique site, which preserves fragments of our ancient history, is designed not only to serve as a museum but also as an educational and innovation center for children.

Prime Minister Rama, together with the Minister of Economy, Culture, and Innovation, Blendi Gonxhja, visited the Mosaic of Tirana to see firsthand the final form of this project.

The Prime Minister was briefed on the importance of completing this modern structure, which took nearly two years of work to realize: “This is the new structure of the mosaic, created according to contemporary standards, and it is much more advanced compared to the old structure,” said one of the project leaders.

An important aspect of this project is the development of a new itinerary for visitors. This itinerary aims to offer the opportunity to enjoy the Mosaic in a more dynamic way, suitable for all age groups, especially children. Furthermore, to provide a more advanced and interactive experience, the Mosaic will include digital exhibitions and interactive installations, which will be dedicated to young visitors. These installations will allow children to watch documentaries translated into both Albanian and English, creating a unique and engaging experience for visitors.

Minister Gonxhja, for his part, emphasized that the installation of multimedia and digital equipment will be an important step in modernizing the Mosaic and transforming it into an even more visited tourist destination: “In the summer, multimedia equipment will be installed, allowing not only the mosaics here but also those from all over Albania to be viewed virtually,” said Gonxhe.

Prime Minister Edi Rama, during his inspection of the project, highlighted the potential to transform this space into an attractive area for the local community: “This area can be made even more beautiful for the community. We can add more seating and create a more pleasant environment for both citizens and visitors,” said the Prime Minister.

With the completion of this project, the Mosaic of Tirana will offer a rich educational and cultural experience for young people, while also becoming an important tourist destination for both the city and international visitors.
