With the new summer tourism season nearing, work is full steam ahead to ease access of visitors and holidaymakers to the most visited tourist destinations.

This is the case with the road segment linking the villages of Sukth and Maminas, which is being expanded and paved. The project also includes construction of sidewalks and lighting system.

“We are visiting an important road in Sukth administrative unit, where reconstruction of the 6.3 km section is underway with the project including rehabilitation of all asphaltic layers. The segment will help to ease the congested road traffic in the coastal city of Durres during the summer season, as it will be used by motorists driving to Maminas and Lalzi Bay,” Durres Mayor Emirjana Sako said, as she accompanied Prime Minister Edi Rama during inspection of the ongoing work.

“The road has been widened by six meters and the route has been expanded along its entire stretch. Sidewalks will be built in the urban residential areas, and new road signs for bus stops will be installed along the road. The new road project will help local community and businesses, as well as the holidaymakers spending their vacations in the area,” Mayor Sako added.
