Albanian Government Council of Ministers

Prime Minister Rama visited today the Municipality of Farkë and inspected the work progress for the construction of the promenade along the lake of Farkë. The project, which is expected to give the area a new urban dimension, covers a surface of 11000 square meters, while the promenade is 760 meters long. Besides the promenade along the lake, the project includes also the necessary underground infrastructure, as well as the construction of flyovers for pedestrians, the lighting system and greening. Approximately 37 million lekë have been invested for this project.

The construction of the promenade will turn this area into a recreational and restful destination not only for local residents but also for citizens of Tirana. Mayor of Farka appreciated the government’s support for the investment and said that this new park will give a new dimension to the capital itself: “The park has a view across Tirana. Along the promenade there will be underpasses for the rainwater to pass underneath, while sewage pipes have been laid. There will be decorative bushes and trees.”

Prime Minister Rama said that after the rehabilitation and resettlement of the entire area of the Lake of Farkë, and after the new territorial division, the capital city will have more development centers and a new green dimension that has been missing: “Actually, the project for Tirana includes this lake and the lake of Paskuqan, which are considered strategic development center and will create a green dimension that has been missing. I believe that after the reform and reunification, this area will be more in focus, but will also be much closer to people, in the psychological sense, because they would not feel as if they were leaving Tirana to go to the Lake of Farka.”

The Prime Minister announced also the project for the rehabilitation of the Artificial Lake of Tirana. “We have a project that will be launched soon, which is the rehabilitation of the artificial lake, especially of the dry parts, which are seen as attractive areas for usurpation and illegal construction. Thanks to this project, these areas will be recovered, abusive constructions will be demolished and somehow the area will be protected. This project will be followed by other more complete and integrated projects. We will start with the jogging track of the Tirana Lake, and it would be nice if a small jogging track was designed here as well. It is a major catastrophe, so many people out there who are running, who want to run and don’t have the opportunity to do it. We will build the jogging track at Tirana Lake with tartan, so it will be stable”, the Prime Minister side while inspecting the works.
