Berat is connected to Elbasan and beyond with a new road axis, shortening commute time by 1 hour. Prime Minister Edi Rama inspected the completion of one of its main segments, the 36 kilometres Cërrik – Belsh – Ura Vajgurore – Kuçova, an investment of approximately 30 million dollars, which runs through the entire region of ​​Dumre, Cerrik, Belsh passes in Kozare, Kucove and Ura Vajgurore town. Two of the 4 segments have been completed and it is intensively being worked on the other two segments, and the whole axis is expected to be functional this summer. The road connects an area ample of agricultural and tourist potential.

“It is a new road axis connecting Elbasan with Berat. The entire Dumre region, Belsh, Dragot,Cerrik, has remarkable economic potentials.  More than the area itself, it opens the whole section following Elbasan, Korçe and Tirana, and collects all the part of agricultural products, the interesting tourist part. It has a value of around 30 million dollars. We have divided it into 4 segments. The segments have proceeded very well and I believe we will complete the main part by the summer. This segment is concluded. It is extremely welcomed by the locals and has absolutely granted access since this moment despite being still under construction,” Director of the Albanian Fund for Development, Benet Beci said.

The road gets an even greater value it not only facilitates mobility but also reduces the cost of exporting farmer products to the market. “These are actually 35 new kilometers and are transitional to the entire area, both for mobility and the speed of connection between the inhabited areas here as well as Berat, Elbasan, Tirana, but are of major importance to the entire agricultural economy because they create a tremendous convenience for all the farmers which are saved once and for all from the torments of transporting products into the market,” PM Rama said.
