The road Banjë – Gramsh and the Bridge of Trashovicë are part of the infrastructure replacement project which will be implemented within the framework of the Hydropower Project of Devoll.
An investment of 33 million Euros has been made for this 15.5 kilometer long road, of which 11.7 kilometers are brand new, while 3.6 kilometers are a reconstruction of the existing road.
Among others, the project envisages the construction of 13 bridges of which the 520 meter-long and 58 meter-wide Bridge of Trashovice will be the longest in the country.
The new bridge will be built according to the most contemporary infrastructure standards, and will connect villages along the road. The replacement infrastructure project envisages also secondary roads that are equipped with road signs.
Works for the construction of the road have been divided into two lots: the segment Banjë – Drizë and the segment Drizë – Gramsh, as well as the Bridge of Trashovicë.
Prime Minister Rama was today on the ground to inspect the progress of works for this important road. He was briefed by work leaders on technical details of the project.
“This is one of the greatest works in Albania for which an investment of 33 million Euros has been made. The bridge is 520 kilometers long and 58 meters high. Along the 15.5 kilometer road which is divided into two lots there are 13 works of art, hence 13 bridges. Obviously this road has a very important infrastructure impact, because it shortens the distance towards Elbasan, but at the same time it has a social impact in relation to the investment that is being made for the construction of the Banje Hydropower. Works are going on at a fast pace. The road is taking shape and works are of good quality. The road is being built according to contemporary standards, and in addition to diverting curves it shortens the distance by 6 kilometers compared with the existing road”, the director of the Road Authority Dashamir Gjika said.
